Memory is a photographic self-portrait project conceived as a playable card game. Drawing on a familiar game from childhood, it invites players to search for pairs among fragments of the body, matched through their apparent symmetry. As the game unfolds, similarities give way to subtle differences, marks and imperfections, turning play into a process of observation and discovery. The act of self-portraiture thus opens up to the gaze of others.
Conceived as an ongoing project, Memory will be repeated every ten years. Each new edition will return to the same body and the same game, while the photographic language may evolve over time. The project thus becomes a record of two parallel transformations: the traces left by time on the body and the evolution of the photographic gaze itself.
